Students in their senior year participated in the drug testing and education program of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and learned about the doping control policies of other relevant sports-governing agencies (e.g., the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency). Activities included drug testing (doping control) at colleges and other sports venues, providing drug information, writing drug monographs, and giving presentations. The students learned about the science of lab tests for performance-enhancing drugs and the various opportunities for pharmacists related to sports pharmacy. The students also went on field trips, including one to ADR in 2007 for a tour and discussions with Dr. Catlin and Dr. Hatton.

Read about this course in the Drug Free Sport newsletter.

Read about this course in the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education.

In addition to being Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, Peter Ambrose is Program Director, Los Angeles-Orange County Clerkship Program.

Contact Peter Ambrose, Pharm.D.

ADR.
